I don’t know about anyone else, but my mind wanders to odd and creative places in the wee hours of the morning. Around 4am when I awake and can’t quite get back to sleep—in that hour when the world is still quiet, the wheels begin to turn, and what they generate often find themselves in my writing. Some of my best book ideas have come to me at this time. A funny bit of dialogue here, an improvement there, or even a whole new scene. Or one dropped. My idea for chapter interludes arrived one early Friday morning at this time.
It doesn’t happen quite as often as it did, now that the novel is written, but when it’s published, my readers will find themselves perusing passages that came to fruition in the best, most peaceful mental space imaginable.
